Newell's vs. Rosario Central: A New Argentine Classic

Buenos Aires, Feb 28 (NA) – Newell's will host Rosario Central this Sunday for the eighth round of the Apertura Tournament, marking another edition of one of the most passionate classics in Argentine football.

The match, scheduled for 5:00 PM, will take place at the Marcelo Alberto Bielsa Stadium and can be watched on ESPN Premium. The appointed referee is Yael Falcón Pérez, while Héctor Paletta will be in charge of the VAR.

This Rosario classic arrives with teams in completely opposite situations. While Newell's is one of the worst teams in this Apertura Tournament and a serious candidate for relegation, its eternal rival is solidifying itself among the best local teams and wants to shout champion on the field, after the AFA awarded it the League Champion title last year.

In this Apertura Tournament, Newell's is last in Zone A with only two points and is one of three teams that has yet to win by three goals. Rosario Central, on the other hand, comes from a victory as a visitor against Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata in the last round and is fourth in Zone B with 11 points, five behind the leader, Independiente Rivadavia de Mendoza.

This match will be marked by the debut of Frank Kudelka as the head coach of Newell's, following the departure of the duo of Sergio Gómez and Favio Orsi and the interim management of Lucas Bernardi.

According to the Argentine News Agency, in the last five editions of the Rosario classic, an impressive dominance of the "Canalla" has been observed, as it has won in each of these encounters.
